Getting started
Connect Stripe to take payments
Connect a Stripe account so clients pay online when they book, with payouts straight to your bank account.
butterbook.ing takes online payments through Stripe. You connect your own Stripe account, clients pay when they book, and payouts go to your bank account. butterbook.ing never holds your money.
What works before you connect
You can take bookings straight away without Stripe. Until you connect:
- services can only use the Postpay or Free payment mode, because Prepay and Deposit need Stripe
- clients can't buy packages
- clients can't book paid recurring sessions
Connect your account
- In the sidebar, under Payment, open Stripe Connect.
- Select Get started. Stripe's secure setup opens on the page. There's no separate sign-up.
- Enter your business and bank details, and verify your identity if Stripe asks. Already have a Stripe account? You can sign in during this step to use it.
- Once Stripe confirms your details, the page shows Connected and you can start taking payments.
If Stripe needs more information
Sometimes Stripe asks for more details, before or after you're connected. The page then shows Needs attention and a card headed Stripe needs more information, listing what's missing as Past due, Due now or In review. Select Provide this information to finish it. If Stripe has paused your payouts, the card says so.
Manage payouts
Once connected, the same page shows your Account Management, Payouts, Balances and Notifications from Stripe, so you can manage them without leaving butterbook.ing.
Disconnect Stripe
Select Disconnect and confirm. You'll stop taking online payments, but your Stripe account isn't deleted, any balance still pays out as normal, and refunds on past bookings still work.
Fees
Stripe charges its processing fee on each payment. On the Starter plan, butterbook.ing adds its own percentage; on Pro it doesn't. See pricing for the current numbers.
